Costa Rica’s territory is only 0.03% of the earth’s surface, yet it is considered to be a country with more diversity than many other areas in the world. Costa Rica is home to about 4% of the species on the surface of the Earth. The incredible diversity is mostly explained by the geography of the country. Costa Rica is located between two big continental masses and two oceans and with several mountain ranges. Also, the conservation policies developed during the 1970’s have contributed to this invaluable treasure.
Due to the fact that a large percentage of the total Costa Rican landmass is protected in one form or the other, any nature lover can explore and experience the amazing wildlife and terrain. Costa Rica has among the greatest diversity of fauna in the world. From Mammals, Lizards and Amphibians, Insects and Reptiles to the richest marine life on its Caribbean and Pacific Oceans and many streams, rivers and lakes. Costa Rica is one of the best places on earth to explore and experience wildlife in its most concentrated form in terms of biodiversity within a relatively small space.
Costa Rica is known for its awe inspiring diversity in Animals, its marine life who inhabit both the fresh and salt waters have made Costa Rica a name. Mammals such as Jaguars and Whales leave a strong impression on all those who were lucky enough to encounter them. Birds have found their homes amongst the many coastal and terrestrial protected areas throughout Costa Rica. Reptiles and Amphibians are frequently seen everywhere. And, the multitude of Insects and other arthropods keeps people in awe as well.

Costa Rica Dreams Destination also provides guidance and care for injured and orphaned wildlife, our goal is returning wildlife to their natural habitat by creating awareness and connections between people and wildlife through education.
osta Rica Dreams rescues native wild animals that have lost their homes to development, or are found injured, orphaned, or abandoned. When possible, the animals are cared for through our credited local rescue centers and are rehabilitated and released — healthy and wild — back where they belong. Those animals that could not survive in the wild can live out their lives at our accredited sanctuary. We don’t sell, trade or commercialize animals, nor are the animals for hire or used for commercial purposes in any way.
We are happy to share our knowledge and passion about animals through our volunteer programs and offering. We hope not only to educate, but also to inspire people to learn about and respect our wildlife and conserve its habitat. Our primary goal is to connect people who have found injured or orphaned wild animals with those who can take care of them and get them back into the wild as soon as possible. Through a network of wildlife rescue centers in Costa Rica we try to save as may wild animals as possible.
The first 24 to 48 hours after a wild animal is found is the most critical. They usually have been without food or water for a while and are confused and afraid. Connecting with a wildlife professional quickly can save their life. Please feel free to use this site to contact a local wildlife expert that will help guide and assist in any wildlife animal rescue necessary.
Caution: Most humane societies and animal control locations are not geared for wildlife animals and will put them down if you take them there. Ask first!
